Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)
CAVS Expectations
Frink's faculty, staff, and administration hold high expectations for behavior for our students. These behavior expectations are intended to establish a common understanding among students, parents, and teachers of what is expected. Behavior expectations are defined around four statements: Come prepared, Accept responsibility, Vigorously learn, and Show respect. Specific behaviors are defined in detail as they pertain to each setting in our school in the C.A.V.S. Matrix.

Bullying
The Board of Education defines bullying as physical or psychological intimidation which may occur repeatedly over time to create an ongoing pattern of abuse and harassment.
Although definitions of bullying vary, most agree that bullying involves:
•Imbalance of Power: people who bully use their power to control or harm and the people being bullied may have a hard time defending themselves
•Intent to Cause Harm: actions done by accident are not bullying; the person bullying has a goal to cause harm
•Repetition: incidents of bullying happen to the same person over and over by the same person or group
The Board of Education says that bullying may be:
•Physical: hitting, kicking, pushing, choking, punching, stealing
•Verbal: threatening, taunting, teasing, starting rumors, hate speech, name calling, extortion
•Relational/Social: exclusion from activities, social isolation, sexual intimidation or harassment
•Hi-tech/Cyber: sending threatening messages via email, using a web-cam to threaten, sending racist, threatening, indecent or derogatory messages via email, instant messaging or a chat room.
Consequences
These may range from a Principal-Parent-Student conference to out of school suspension, to be determined by the administrator. Counseling will be provided in conjunction with administrative consequences for students who demonstrate persistent bullying.
School Violence Prevention Act
The goal of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support is to create a kind and caring school environment. Bullying of or by anyone at Frink Middle School is contrary to this goal.
